BERLY'S LOST BALL is a quest in OMORI. It is one of the many optional HEADSPACE sidequests available when talking to BERLY and VAN at the FOREST PLAYGROUND after BASIL vanishes during the PROLOGUE.
STORY[]
VAN asks OMORI and his friends for help because he accidentally knocked BERLY'S BALL somewhere deep within the VAST FOREST. BERLY will accompany the group on their search for the LOST BALL once they accept helping her and VAN out. You cannot leave the VAST FOREST while BERLY is with you. You need to have BERLY with you to finish the sidequest.
To find the LOST BALL, the player has to simply walk one room south of the FOREST PLAYGROUND, then continue moving west in the lower paths of West area. Doing so leads the group to a detour with a LOST SPROUT MOLE and a bridge. Cross the bridge and you'll find BERLY's LOST BALL right below a bench.
Once BERLY retrieves her LOST BALL, the group can head back to the FOREST PLAYGROUND to complete the quest.
REWARD[]
After returning to the FOREST PLAYGROUND, BERLY will thank the group for helping her find her LOST BALL. She will also tell them to come see her before leaving once again. From that point on, BERLY will teach AUBREY the HEADBUTT skill and gives her a BUTT CERTIFICATE as a token of gratitude.
The BUTT CERTIFICATE is required for the "So majestic... so beautiful..." achievement when entering OTHERWORLD for the first time.
Otherwise, if the group doesn't have this item upon their first visit to OTHERWORLD, then the achievement cannot be obtained.

- The events of this quest were originally part of the main story, as seen in the 2018 Kickstarter demo.
- It is possible that BERLY was originally planned to fight with the party during the sidequest, as implied through an unused slot in the "Actors" folder and an unused set of SKILLS in the game's data.
