BIG YELLOW CAT is a character and NPC in OMORI. He is the favorite of the "three great creatures" of HEADSPACE, and resides within the NEIGHBOR'S ROOM as a guardian to protect OMORI when needed.

APPEARANCE[]
The BIG YELLOW CAT is a large, yellow cat with purple eyes and outline. For most of the story, he cannot be interacted with, but can be seen looking into both NEIGHBOR'S ROOM and NEIGHBOR'S BEDROOM. As OMORI moves around NEIGHBOR'S ROOM, the BIG YELLOW CAT's eyes will always follow him no matter where he goes.
PERSONALITY[]
The BIG YELLOW CAT is shown to be calm and collected most of the time. He often makes sure that OMORI and his friends feel protected, assuring them that they are safe in his presence whenever they are in distress.
STORY[]
BACKGROUND[]
Before HEADSPACE came into existence, the BIG YELLOW CAT was one of SUNNY's three imaginary friends alongside ABBI and HUMPHREY when the latter became a hikikomori after MARI's death.[1] The BIG YELLOW CAT was considered SUNNY's favorite as he was inspired by the play structure he used to play with from FARAWAY PARK.
He was later chosen to look after him whenever OMORI entered NEIGHBOR'S ROOM to play with the dream versions of AUBREY, KEL, and HERO. In the present, he continues his duty to watch over the dreamer, waiting for something to happen.[2]
SUNNY ROUTE[]
The BIG YELLOW CAT continues his duty to look after NEIGHBOR'S ROOM each time SUNNY returns to HEADSPACE as OMORI. However, he can no longer be encountered once the plot fully diverges to the REAL WORLD segments and after the player completes BLACK SPACE at the end of TWO DAYS LEFT.
OMORI ROUTE[]
The BIG YELLOW CAT can be found within NEIGHBOR'S BEDROOM after clearing BLACK SPACE, where he instructs OMORI to rest to perform a soft reset of HEADSPACE. After the player resets HEADSPACE, the BIG YELLOW CAT once again remains in the NEIGHBOR'S ROOM to look after the friend group.

TRIVIA[]
- The BIG YELLOW CAT appears to based off on a play structure that can be seen in FARAWAY PARK.[3] He also resembles a calendar shown in SUNNY's TREEHOUSE.
- The intro card for NEIGHBOR'S ROOM is largely based on the BIG YELLOW CAT.
- The BIG YELLOW CAT bears a resemblance to Chiyo-chichi from Azumanga Daioh. It is imaginative, but far more social and involved in the story than in OMORI.
- A distorted, warped version of the BIG YELLOW CAT can found in FRIENDS PLAYGROUND, a subarea from BLACK SPACE. Unlike the original version, this variant cannot be interacted with as it is simply just part of the area's background.
- In the game's files, the BIG YELLOW CAT is referred to as Silent Cat and NB_CAT.
- Unlike HUMPHREY and ABBI, both of which are fightable bosses, the BIG YELLOW CAT is the only one of HEADSPACE's three great creatures that cannot be fought anywhere in the game.
- In one of the earliest screenshots of the game, the BIG YELLOW CAT has an unused sprite of him with his arms crossed. He also appeared to lack any form of shading compared to the final version of his sprite.
