| — BRANCH CORAL |
BRANCH CORAL is a character and NPC in OMORI. It resides within DEEPER WELL and appears to hold knowledge regarding a few secrets about HEADSPACE and the truth behind its existence.
PROFILE[]
APPEARANCE[]
The BRANCH CORAL is a large, purple coral with red branches dispersed throughout. It is covered in black orbs and has a green swing hanging from one of its branches. When stripped out of its consciousness after accepting its sacrifice offer, the BRANCH CORAL appears monochrome and the swing is almost completely white.
PERSONALITY[]
The BRANCH CORAL is knowledgeable and aware of many things regarding the existence behind the imaginary world of HEADSPACE. It also seems to have deep understanding of OMORI's conscience and realizes that his imagination has its limits. The BRANCH CORAL also offers OMORI a chance to become stronger in hopes of overcoming darker aspects of HEADSPACE, and breaking the endless cycle SUNNY has started ever since four years in the game's timespan.
STORY[]
TWO DAYS LEFT[]

On both routes, the BRANCH CORAL appears in DEEPER WELL on an optional path that branches out from the path to HUMPHREY. Talking to it will uncover secrets about SUNNY's conscience and aspects of HEADSPACE. After selecting all dialogue options once and choosing "NO" when BRANCH CORAL asks if OMORI would like to know more, BRANCH CORAL offers OMORI a "sacrifice".
Accepting the sacrifice will teleport OMORI to a strange area with a plant growing an APPLE. Interacting with the APPLE will cause to slowly morph into SUNNY's head.

Eating the APPLE initiates a short cutscene similar to the flashback of SUNNY's near-death experience with drowning, but SUNNY is instead floating in a red liquid and shadowy tendrils or branches can be seen around him. OMORI will then gain 50 HEART, 50 JUICE, 10 ATTACK, 10 DEFENSE, and 10 SPEED. After this event, BRANCH CORAL will be dead and can no longer be talked to.
Accepting or denying the BRANCH CORAL's offer of "sacrifice" will not influence any endings or outcomes in the game, but will only give OMORI the stat boost if accepted.
ONE DAY LEFT[]
On ONE DAY LEFT of the OMORI ROUTE, BRANCH CORAL will no longer be alive once OMORI has entered BLACK SPACE, regardless of whether the stat bonus was previously acquired or not. Despite this, its appearance is still colored if the stat bonus was not acquired before.

TRIVIA[]
- The BRANCH CORAL's dialogue all seem to provide hints of the game's backstory:
- BRANCH CORAL stating that BASIL is in another world further implies that BLACK SPACE (and by extension, WHITE SPACE) are not considered parts of HEADSPACE.
- The three great creatures mentioned by BRANCH CORAL are all present in HEADSPACE. The oldest is HUMPHREY, a character originally from a children's book owned by SUNNY named "HUNGRY HUMPHREY". The wisest is ABBI, OMORI's former imaginary friend. The "prison" she is trapped in is THE ABYSS; it is not directly stated why ABBI was stripped of her wisdom and banished. The favorite, the BIG YELLOW CAT, is seen in the NEIGHBOR'S ROOM. The BIG YELLOW CAT appears to take influence from a piece of playground equipment in FARAWAY PARK or a calendar in the TREEHOUSE, perhaps both.
- BRANCH CORAL's statement about WHITE SPACE heavily implies that the black light bulb represents the repression of SUNNY's traumatic memories. This is further implied by the events following the destruction of the light bulb.
- Upon taking the ritual, SUNNY's head will pop up as the "APPLE", which OMORI must then eat to complete it. This is very similar to Eve eating the forbidden fruit from the Garden of Eden in the Bible desiring knowledge. In this case, however, OMORI wants the opposite, to repress knowledge, and instead eats SUNNY who knows the TRUTH, gaining more control over him and thus becoming more powerful in the DREAMER's head.
