CAT DISSECTION is one of the many locations found within BLACK SPACE in OMORI. It is the sixth mandatory location the player must progress through to complete BLACK SPACE.
GEOGRAPHY[]
CAT DISSECTION takes on the appearance of small, dark vet room with a few window openings that reveal a looping background of ribcages. There are four shelves stocked with bottles of unknown contents, and the BUTLER stands in the rightmost top corner.
MEWO also appears in this area, strapped down to an operating table with dissecting tools next to her. A light also appears to be shining down on the table. Other than that, OMORI only has two options in this room depending on the player's choices. He can either cut open MEWO, or simply ignore MEWO's presence and get the key from BUTLER and STAB to leave.
There is no obligation that OMORI must cut open MEWO to exit the room. Along with that, this area is the only BLACK SPACE area where the key doesn't have to be collected as no RED HANDS will spawn upon doing so.
STORY[]
After finding a KEY within FOREST OF STUMPS, OMORI is warped back to the center hub of BLACK SPACE. From there, OMORI enters the next door, which leads him to a small room featuring the BUTLER standing by the entrance, and MEWO strapped onto an operating table with some surgery equipment in the middle of aformentioned room. STRANGER does not show up in this area.
Interacting with BUTLER will have him tell OMORI that MEWO "has been very, very bad". If the player interacts with him again, BUTLER will give them a key and the option to stab OMORI. Heading over to the table with MEWO provides the player with a prompt to cut her open. Choosing "YES" will do nothing the first time, but continuing to press "YES" will show different dialogue as MEWO begins to panic and realize what is happening. After the words "MEWO stares at you. She does not know what is happening." from the first interaction are repeated, OMORI will cut MEWO open.
Talking with the BUTLER after killing MEWO will prompt him to ask if OMORI is "Waiting for something to happen?" and hint at the STAB option being available. It is entirely possible to leave the room without killing MEWO by opening the menu and choosing to stab OMORI. Using the STAB command is the only way out of the room, as no RED HANDS spawn after collecting the key. After stabbing himself, OMORI warps back to the center hub of BLACK SPACE.

TRIVIA[]
- There was once a bug in an older version of the game that would softlock the player in BLACK SPACE if they decided to stab OMORI before acquiring the key.
- If the player chooses to cut open MEWO, she will no longer appear in WHITE SPACE on ONE DAY LEFT of the OMORI ROUTE and the NEUTRAL ENDINGS of the SUNNY ROUTE.
- CAT DISSECTION is the only room in BLACK SPACE where the menu can be opened (not counting the secret warps to BLACK SPACE 2 areas from certain BLACK SPACE locations), and is also one of the many BLACK SPACE rooms where STRANGER does not appear.
- The name of the BGM 56-12-2 is the CAS number of 4-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a type of neurotransmitter.
