OMORI Wiki

DIAL-UP is an enemy in OMORI. It is one of the many enemies found within the JUNKYARD of OTHERWORLD.

PROFILE[]

A DIAL-UP resembles a representation of Dial-up Internet access. It is a computer connected with a classic wired phone and an outgoing arrow to access the Internet. It has a purple color palette that matches the JUNKYARD atmosphere.

STORY[]

A few DIAL-UPS can be seen roaming around the areas of the JUNKYARD alongside some MIXTAPE and DOOMBOXES. They will usually move towards the player if they're in close proximity, like with any other regular enemy.

Every turn, each enemy will start by trying to use the skill listed at the top. If the calculation fails, they move on to the second skill and so on, until reaching the final skill which is guaranteed to activate. Each calculation is done independently from the previous ones, so the added percentage is not 100%.

TRIVIA[]

  • Dial-up is an Internet Access that connects via the telephone line. It was publicly released in 1992 and hit a downfall in mid-2000s due to the rise of broadband.
  • DIAL-UP is possibly based around the "AOL Dial-Up" online service, due to how one of its skills slowing down everyone in battle and its name as well.
  • There is a special mechanic when encountering an enemy within the JUNKYARD, KEL will start digging something out from the trash at the start of a battle, with a chance of obtaining CANS, TOFUS, RUBBER BANDS, CHOCOLATES, and CHERRY SODAS. However, there is a 37.5% chance of obtaining nothing. This feature also applies to the MIXTAPE and DOOMBOX.
