Welcome to ORANGE OASIS, where the moon shines brighter.

— CONDUCTOR JASH

ORANGE OASIS is an optional location in OMORI. It is accessed starting from THREE DAYS LEFT, after completing the CAPTAIN OF THE SPACE PIRATES quest and obtaining the TRAIN PASS from CAPT. SPACEBOY to travel there via VAST FOREST's single TRAIN.

GEOGRAPHY[]

Orange Oasis (Full)

The area is a desert made almost entirely of edible material. The "sand" is brown sugar, various structures are made of bread or pastry, and even some of the roaming creatures are part food item. WILY mentions that ORANGE OASIS' population is filled with creatures that have existed for a long period of time, and plenty of its landscape can be used for development.[1][2]

The west side is host to a PLUTO'S SPACELINE station, a shop, a TOFU CONCONNASISSEUR who trades various high-quality SNACKS for 10 TOFU, and the main attraction, DINO'S DIG. The MAILBOX here sells WAFFLE, PANCAKE, BERRY SMOOTHIE, AIR HORN, and LIFE JAM.

The other shop, which is the NPC GALLIPOT, sells ORANGE JUICE, PEACH SODA, and MILK for 150 CLAMS. The center of the map is a pool of orange juice with MARI'S picnic right by it. Gazing into the pool transports you into RAIN TOWN.

The north side has a mirror and a mural hinting at the masters of the area who can bring bread to life. The north exit leads to ORANGE JOE'S HOUSE. The northeast corner is host to a few houses and sidequests. Interacting with the sand trap puts you in a tunnel system where GINGERDEAD MAN and TOAST GHOST can spawn.

The east side has a door to CLUB SANDWICH. The east exit is a passageway to a bread graveyard, and interacting with the right bread slices can open the way to BREAVEN. Talk to the MAN ON FIRE to teach the SPICY FOOD skill to HERO. The south-east exit is host to BEARD GHOST, LARGE FACE, and another joke for the JOKE BOOK. For more detail on ORANGE OASIS's locations, see NOTABLE AREAS.

Lastly, the watermelons scattered throughout this area contains BREADFRUIT JUICE, ten BANANA SMOOTHIES, two LIFE JAMS, DONUT, two MANGO SMOOTHIES, APPLE JUICE, PEACH SODA, GRAPE SODA, ORANGE JUICE, S.BERRY SMOOTHIE, and the WISHBONE charm.

NOTABLE AREAS[]

TRAIN STATION[]

Train Station (Orange Oasis)

Once the party exits the TRAIN after defeating DOROTHI, they arrive at ORANGE OASIS' train station. It is also the first area of ORANGE OASIS the party visits upon departing from the TRAIN.

Some of the NPCs from VAST FOREST's TRAIN STATION also show up there, with most of them offering extra dialogue about ORANGE OASIS. The top left corner notably features multiple pamphlets for popular tourist destinations, including an advertisement that describes DEEP WELL's LAST RESORT.

To the right of the pamphlets features some big bread and normal-sized fruit for visitors to eat. Heading up north leads to the CENTER HUB, whereas entering the TRAIN will automatically transport the party back to the TRAIN STATION without having to do the entire DOROTHI sequence over again.

CENTER HUB[]

Center Hub (Orange Oasis)

The CENTER HUB serves as the main area of ORANGE OASIS. At every direction features multiple subareas the player can visit, some of them containing enemies or a special event. The most notable subarea is the local attraction DINO'S DIG, located near the entrance. Near the pyramid is where one of ABBI's TENTACLES can be found. Only after defeating ABBI and choosing to spare her, will the TENTACLE grant you the CHEF'S HAT charm.

Northeast of DINO'S DIG, a TREASURE MAP revealing the location of the X Letter required for the HANGMAN can be found. The party can also interact with a floating mirror and a telescope in that same area. At the roof of the DINO'S DIG pyramid features SCOTT, an brachiosaurus that asks the party to help him scratch his back upon interacting with him. This will initiate the ITCHY sidequest, which can be done inside of DINO'S DIG. Completing the sidequest rewards you with the HARD HAT.

Mr. Outback (Orange Oasis)

The center features a large oasis where MARI and her picnic can be found near it. If one interacts with the sparkle found on top of the lake, this will transport them to RAIN TOWN, a small area where many VEGGIE KIDS reside. Near here is where the enigmatic MR. OUTBACK and a watermelon containing the WISHBONE can be found. The player can only interact with MR. OUTBACK before completing LOST LIBRARY, as finishing that segment will result in the latter turning into sand.

The upper right corner has an odd NPC flipped on his back, known as the CROSSANT. Interacting with him and flipping him over leads to him thanking OMORI and friends before leaving.

ORANGE OASIS FACE

This is also where the player can locate the OASIS INTERIORS and an entrance to the ARROW CAVE. Going north from the OASIS INTERIORS leads to the ORANGE JOE'S CLIFF. Right below that area is where a CLUB SANDWICH location can be accessed.

Heading further to the right leads the player to the TOAST GRAVE and by extension, the BREAVEN. Lastly, the bottom right corner is where a joke billboard, LARGE FACE, and the BEARD GHOST can be found. Interacting with the LARGE FACE there will allow you gain the ability to interact with the mysterious faces in the walls. Tag AUBREY as your party leader and you can smash open these faces, revealing little alcoves that hold valuable items.

DINO'S DIG[]

DINO'S DIG

As mentioned before, DINO'S DIG is ORANGE OASIS' main attraction. It can be accessed by heading north from the entrance. The mini-game that can be played there involves the player digging specific spots to obtain items.

The lobby room features various NPCs, such as DINO, the main host of the attraction, and CHAD, who describes the features of the FOOD PYRAMID. The left side of the lobby room features the DINO SHOP and SCOTT's bottom, which can be interacted with to complete the ITCHY sidequest. The DINO SHOP is where visitors can buy three different types of SPOONS for digging out more items:

Dino's Dig (Interior)
  • PLASTIC SPOON (10 DIGS): 3 DINO DOLLARS
  • WOODEN SPOON (15 DIGS): 6 DINO DOLLARS
  • SILVER SPOON (20 DIGS): 10 DINO DOLLARS

The right side of the lobby room features a total of eight strange artifacts from different areas of HEADSPACE. Some of these include a pink-colored flower from VAST FOREST, an inactive DOOMBOX from OTHERWORLD, and a SPROUT MOLE's corpse from PYREFLY FOREST. Other than that, nothing of importance is shown on that side of the room.

MINI-GAME[]

Dino's Dig (Mechanic Example)

DINO'S DIG mechanics are explained to the player up-front when they first visit, and cost 100 CLAMS to enter. The player is given a SPOON and can use it to dig up at digging spots around the pyramid. Certain digging spots have fixed one-time loot, while others will draw from a pool of usable items or DINO DOLLARS.

Each SPOON has a limited number of uses, and the player is ejected once the SPOON is completely used up. DINO DOLLARS can only be exchanged for better SPOONS at the exchange counter to the left of the DIG entrance. If you're lucky, you can dig up a PYRAMID KEY. This lets you unlock the door at the top of the floor and ascend to then next level.

Dino's Dig (Mechanic Example 2)

There are a total of four levels in the pyramid, each one holding more valuable loot than the previous. The enemies here, however, are pretty powerful. It is recommended that you be at least level 25 to not get defeated by them. If you can defeat the enemies with ease, they yield large amounts of EXP and CLAMS -- more than enough to cover the entry fee. Repeated runs through DINO'S DIG can let the party rapidly gain levels until they unlock their best skills, and stock up powerful recovery items for tough fights.

For more information on this area's content, visit the original page.

OASIS INTERIORS[]

Oasis Interiors

The northeast corner of ORANGE OASIS features its OASIS INTERIORS. The houses from left to right consist of the DONUT HOUSE, RELL'S HOUSE, and PALMIE'S HOUSE. All three houses are optional like many other subareas of this location.

They are also surrounded by a few toys and playground equipment. The bottom right corner of this subarea features a swirling quicksand, which will transport the party to the ARROW CAVE upon entering it. There is also a trapdoor connecting to the aforementioned area, only accessible after the player completes the ARROW CAVE.

DONUT HOUSE[]

Donut Hole Interior

The DONUT HOUSE is where a family of four sentient DONUTS reside. Its interior mainly consists of various breads and donut aesthetics. There are only a few interesting things for the player to discover. It is implied that the duchess SWEETHEART was raised there before moving to the wilderness of PYREFLY FOREST.

Interacting with the DONUT GRANDMA near the sink reveals that SWEETHEART is her granddaughter who originally lived within ORANGE OASIS. It is also revealed that SWEETHEART rarely visits this place but occasionally sends the DONUT family a postcard of how she's doing now and then. Interacting with the bookshelf will reveal a photo of SWEETHEART and SPROUT MOLE MIKE.

The player can also interact with the other two DONUT GRANDMAS and DONUT HOLE. Those NPCs have nothing interesting to say other than speaking one line of dialogue.

RELL'S HOUSE[]

Rell's House (Interior)

RELL'S HOUSE is the home of RELL and his family. Its interior features a campfire and four beds. There is nothing special to do there other than interact with any of RELL's relatives crowding the area.

Each one of them will speak out random dialogue but the one spoken by JOJO reveals hints of the SHADOWY CHASM. It is also mentioned that a few enemies roam around that location.

PALMIE'S HOUSE[]

Palmie's House Interior

PALMIE'S HOUSE is the sandwich-shaped home of PALMIE. Its interior resembles the houses from FARAWAY TOWN. From there, the player can interact with JELLY, who tasks you with finding a very special gift for her caretaker PALMIE. This will initiate the PRESENT FOR PALMIE sidequest.

This can done by obtaining the THANK-YOU FOSSIL found in DINO'S DIG, on the bottom-left spot of the third floor. Giving the gift to JELLY will reward the party with a SNO-CONE TICKET, thus completing the sidequest.

ARROW CAVE[]

Arrow Cave

The ARROW CAVE is an underground maze that can only be accessed through the swirling quicksand near OASIS INTERIORS or the trapdoor within that area. When arriving in that area, the party can navigate their way by following the arrows that lead towards the exit.

Choosing to head in the wrong direction will lead the group to a dead end. From there, the party can interact with a poster of FROWNY FACE, who simply tells the party that they should've listened while noting that they couldn't resist taunting them. This only occurs if the party doesn't follow the correct arrows or gets tricked by one of the arrows near the end of the maze.

Arrow Cave (YOU DID IT!)

This will also cause two new enemies to spawn, GINGERDEAD MAN and TOAST GHOST. Both enemies aren't that hard to defeat, only serving as minor nuisances for the party to deal with. Following the correct arrows will eventually bring the group to the exit. From there, a poster of SMILEY FACE with the text "YOU DID IT!" is shown up front. In addition, there is a ladder leading back up to OASIS INTERIORS and a purple-colored jump rope lying beside it. The player can revisit this area as many times as they like.

ORANGE JOE'S CLIFF[]

Orange Joe Cliff (Before Oragne Joe)

Going further north of ORANGE OASIS leads to ORANGE JOE'S CLIFF. This is where ORANGE JOE and his brother ORAGNE JOE reside within their orange-shaped house. When arriving here, ORANGE JOE is shown standing next to his home. A few interactable objects are found there. Several oranges are scattered throughout the area. Each one has a note written on them: "To my dear brother ORAGNE JOE. I hope this message finds its way to you. Please come home." Interacting with an orange pool yields some ORANGE JUICE, which can only be obtained one time.

Interacting with ORANGE JOE leads to short cutscene where he reveals that he's trying to find his missing brother ORAGNE JOE. Afterwards, this will initiate his sidequest of finding ORAGNE JOE. Along with that, he will give the group an ORANGE CREST and asks them to give it to ORAGNE JOE once they find him.

Orange Joe Cliff

The sidequest can be done by entering the DINO'S DIG attraction and reaching the second floor. Once there, the player can interact with ORAGNE JOE, whose body is buried right beside a few oranges. This will lead to a long cutscene involving the two brothers reuniting, as well as obtaining a LIFE JAM from both of them. Completing the sidequest yields the "Hope and Vigor!" achievement.

Returning to this area after completing the sidequest has a few minor changes. Both ORANGE JOE and ORAGNE JOE can be seen chanting the phrase Hope and vigor! Hope and vigor! In addition, the interior of ORANGE JOE'S HOUSE has changed (details are mentioned below).

ORANGE JOE'S HOUSE[]

Orange Joe's House (Interior) Version 2

ORANGE JOE'S HOUSE is the home of ORANGE JOE and ORAGNE JOE as mentioned before. Its interior is decorated with various orange-colored objects when first visiting it. The objects there consist of an orange bed, a glass of juice that is orange, an orange lantern, and a photo of an orange-like creature.

The photo's sprite bears a great resemblance to a photo of someone familiar. This is also where the group can obtain the BLOOD ORANGE weapon for KEL. The group can also interact with a TV set, which displays a few shows at random.

If the player completes ORANGE JOE's sidequest, the entire layout of the house will drastically change. Several orange-like objects are added to the room's layout. The table on the right now features two drinks that are orange and orange-like. ORAGNE JOE'S bed is also added to the left of the house. In addition, the photo of an orange-like creature is removed from the house.

RAIN TOWN[]

Omori Potato

RAIN TOWN is an optional area that can be accessed by interacting with the pond in ORANGE OASIS. OMORI and friends can speak to the VEGGIE KID in the middle of the town, who tells them that although the rain in RAIN TOWN is now slightly uncomfortable for them, only the Chosen One is able to turn the valve to adjust the rain. This begins the quest RAIN TOWN.

If OMORI and friends turn the valve to the right, the rain lightens, and the same VEGGIE KID thanks them. Another VEGGIE KID decides to join them in their adventure as a charm.

If OMORI and friends turn the valve to the left, the rain severely worsens and floods RAIN TOWN, and RAIN TOWN is never seen again. This renders the area permanently inaccessible, unless you are in the OMORI ROUTE then you will be kicked out. Upon reentry, the place will be flooded with the SOMETHING variant, LILI.

TOAST GRAVE[]

PATH TO TOAST GRAVE[]

Man on Fire (Path to Toast Grave)

Taking the east exit will take the party to a long corridor known as the PATH TO TOAST GRAVE. This is also where the MAN ON FIRE can be interacted with. The player must block his path to stop him for interaction. He will be running along the middle of the path, and if OMORI and friends are in his way, he will move a tile down to avoid them. He can still be spoken to normally; the player can stand in the middle of his path and repeatedly click the interact button.

When spoken to, he leaves words of encouragement to OMORI and friends, and declares his support in them. If the player affirms his words, he will teach HERO the skill SPICY FOOD, and finish his dialogue. If the player rejects his words, he will repeat his entire dialogue until the player affirms. Other than that, the player can interact with the toast gravestones to play the sound of a toaster. Moving further east leads to the TOAST GRAVEYARD.

TOAST GRAVEYARD[]

Toast Grave

The TOAST GRAVEYARD is an cemetery-like area, with pieces of toast acting like tombstones. This area is also the only way to access BREAVEN. The ANCIENT CODE from DINO'S DIG will easily provide the solution to unlock access to BREAVEN by causing one the bread slices to dislodge themselves and reveal a ladder going downwards. Going down this ladder will bring the group to the DOOM ENTRANCE of BREAVEN, beginning their progress through that subarea.

Only after defeating the UNBREAD TWINS shall the party reappear in this area. When party uses portal right after BISCUIT and DOUGHIE leave in their boss room, they pop out of the sand in TOAST GRAVEYARD one by one like zombies, then aligning into party formation. In addition, a new charm known as the BREADPHONES are sitting on a nearby grave and can be picked up. Going back into BREAVEN is possible through a swirling quicksand, but only the SUMMONING CIRCLE MAP can accessed from that point on.

BREAVEN[]

DOOM ENTRANCE[]

Doom Entrance

The BREAVEN, sometimes referred as the DOUGH DUNGEON, is an optional dungeon location that players can access starting from TWO DAYS LEFT on both routes. The first area of the BREAVEN is known as the DOOM ENTRANCE. It is a secret chamber in which you must swim across the small lake to progress. If OMORI has already conquered his fear of drowning as of TWO DAYS LEFT, he will be able to swim across and access the rest of BREAVEN.

The player then can interact with a giant piece of toast with a big sign indicating that you shouldn't. Doing so will result in the room shaking slightly with two ominous voices chanting "Ohoooooooo...." in the background. Shortly afterwards, the toast will begin floating, and the party falls through a large hole in the ground. This will bring them to second subarea.

SUMMONING CIRCLE MAP[]

Summoning Circle Map

After touching the large piece of toast, the party will now be in the SUMMONING CIRCLE MAP, which first features a walkway lit by candles. They are covered in flour due to their fall. After walking down the hall and encountering a large summoning circle guarded by ACTUAL MOLE, the player can sacrifice various items laid out on a table to the circle, each of which trigger different effects. Finishing these encounters will reveal the password for the safe on the table:

BREAVEN

ACTUAL MOLE can be spoken to and used to leave the tunnel if needed. With all sacrifices made, there will be a code written on the countertop: "7201969". Use it on the golden safe on the top-left corner, even when ACTUAL MOLE insists that the party shouldn't. This allows access to a RECIPE 4 DISASTER, and if the player takes and views it, they'll see the image of ACTUAL MOLE. Thus, the player must sacrifice ACTUAL MOLE to open up a portal. Stepping into the portal will transport the party into the next room.

After defeating the UNBREAD TWINS, the party can revisit the summoning circle by sinking into the pitfall where the ladder once was. The ACTUAL MOLE will be replaced by his ghost, who cannot be sacrificed to activate the summoning circle again but will still provide passage back to the surface.

ROLLING STONE MAP[]

Rolling Stone Map

The ROLLING STONE MAP consists of a long, narrow corridor, and the only way to progress is to go down. A large boulder will then fall from the ceiling, steadily rolling down after the party.

Regardless of whether the team is struck by the boulder or falls into the pit, the screen will turn black. This will also reveal the text "You died" with a funeral song playing in the background. Instead of receiving a GAME OVER screen as usual upon death, the party will appear a room full of bread and LIFE JAM.

One thing to note is that the skeletons that appear within this area bear an eerily resemblance to OMORI and party, similar to the ones found in the TORTURE ROOM and THE ABYSS.

PANTRY[]

Pantry (Left Room)

The PANTRY is a series of three rooms that mostly contains baking stuff. The room that the party appears in features loads of bread and LIFE JAM. OMORI, the sole survivor of the incident, can use the three LIFE JAMS to turn the TOAST in the room back into his friends, ultimately reviving them. From there, the party can leave the room to enter a hub in which the player can heal up and save before facing the boss of this area. From the center hub, there are two extra rooms that can be accessed from the hub.

Pantry (Middle Room)

The middle room features large jars of honey lying around. Two ACTUAL MOLES can be seen wandering around the area. This area also has large jars of honey lying around. The two watermelons located there contain a BREAD and WAFFLE. The one on the top corner will call the party intruders will telling them to leave. The bottom ACTUAL MOLE will reveal that their masters BISCUIT and DOUGHIE do not sleep, as neither do they.

Pantry (Right Room)

The right room features a few sweet rolls lying around. The watermelon in that area contains a DONUT. Like with the middle room, there are two ACTUAL MOLES residing there. The top ACTUAL MOLE will tell the party that they smell like their father, while wondering if he's still alive. They also reveal that their father hasn't been seen in a while. The bottom ACTUAL MOLE will reveal that BISCUIT and DOUGHIE have been receiving endless amounts of requests, noting that they are reaching their limit soon.

After defeating the UNBREAD TWINS, the player can come back to the two extra PANTRY rooms for extra dialogue from the ACTUAL MOLES. Most of them will express missing their masters while some reveal that they intend to make the BREAVEN their own home.

BAKING ROOM[]

Baking Room (Unbread Twins)

The BAKING ROOM is where the UNBREAD TWINS, consisting of BISCUIT and DOUGHIE, are seen making bread with equally bored expressions, humming to themselves as they work. The UNBREAD TWINS see the group and are afraid that their BREAD has come to haunt them, attacking in fear. Whether the twins are defeated or not, the game progresses and they decide, via the persuasion of the group, to stop their endless cycle of making bread and enter the world outside through a portal. However, if the player manages to defeat them, this will yield the Ohoooooooooo... achievement.

Baking Room

There is nothing else to do but exit through the same portal the UNBREAD TWINS used before. However, there are a few things left for the party to do but all are optional. Interacting with the objects in the BAKING ROOM will show the text Holy kitchen. Going back into the two PANTRY rooms and interacting with the ACTUAL MOLES there will prompt new dialogue from them.

Finishing this room will ultimately end the BREAVEN segments and by extension, render the other areas (excluding the SUMMONING CIRCLE MAP) inaccessible once the player leaves the room. Doing so will transport the party back to the TOAST GRAVEYARD. The BREADPHONES charm are sitting on a nearby grave and can be picked up.

EXTRAS[]

TRIVIA[]

  • According to OMOCAT, ORANGE OASIS was originally required for story progression during the game's early development stages. However, due to various changes regarding the game's production, the location was instead made optional in the final release.[3]
    • This idea was conceptualized around the same time when MARI was originally planned to be an ice cream princess that played an active role in the story instead of only appearing at her picnics.
  • The entire layout of ORANGE OASIS is primarily based on the FOOD PYRAMID book, which only be found when doing the sorting chore on ONE DAY LEFT of the OMORI ROUTE.
    • DINO'S DIG is implied to be based on the unused "DIGGING DINO'S" coloring book that can only be found in the game's files. In addition, ORANGE JOE is based on the drink of the same name. The character also appears on the "ORANGE JOE'S SCRATCH-AND-SNIFF" book.
  • After defeating the HUSHPUPPY enemies, the ORANGE OASIS battle theme will change to LIFE JAM GUY's theme, though this is most likely an oversight left by the developers themselves. However, judging from the filename of the song "battle_dough_dungeon", its official title, and placement in the OST, it seems that it was meant to be primarily used as a battle theme for BREAVEN.
  • An NPC known as SERENO mentions that the UNBREAD TWINS have the power to raise the dead, most likely referring to many bread creatures the player encounters in ORANGE OASIS, such as the BREAD KIDS and the GINGERDEAD MAN enemies.[4]
  • ORANGE OASIS is one of the three optional HEADSPACE areas in the game. The other two optional areas consist of SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN and THE ABYSS.
  • A poster showing an advertisement for DINO'S DIG can be found in the FOREST PLAYGROUND, only after defeating HUMPHREY on the OMORI ROUTE.
  • The ice cubes found floating in the oasis contains some enemies from both DINO'S DIG and BREAVEN.
  • ORANGE OASIS is one of the four locations that houses a CLUB SANDWICH location. The other three consist of OTHERWORLD, PYREFLY FOREST, and LAST RESORT.
  • Like with OTHERWORLD LAKE and NORTH LAKE's coast, standing too long near the DOOM ENTRANCE before overcoming OMORI's fear of drowning on TWO DAYS LEFT will cause the overworld music to stop as multiple dark tendrils begin swarming the darkened screen.
  • When taking the party back up to surface after being sacrificed, the ACTUAL MOLE guarding the BREAVEN will secretly steal away a LIFE JAM from the player's inventory, despite having no dialogue indicating it doing so. This only occurs if the player has LIFE JAM in their inventory.
  • JOJO's mentioning of the SHADOWY CHASM heavily hints of THE ABYSS's existence.[5]
  • The two GATOR GUYS that can be first found within VAST FOREST's TRAIN STATION can also be found standing near the pamphlets featuring details about LAST RESORT. They end up disappearing on TWO DAYS LEFT, presumably returning back to the LAST RESORT under MR. JAWSUM's orders.
  • According to an early concept art, the BREAVEN was originally planned to be a subarea of PYREFLY FOREST instead of ORANGE OASIS. It is unknown why this was changed in the final release.
  • The large painting in the SUMMONING CIRCLE MAP resembles the Moon, especially the one appearing in PLUTO's ATTACK skill. The password 7201969 is also a reference to the first Moon landing.
