BASIL

WATERMELON PATH is one of the many locations from BLACK SPACE in OMORI. It is the seventh mandatory location the player must progress through to complete BLACK SPACE.

GEOGRAPHY[]

WATERMELON PATH resembles a world filled with an odd atmosphere and watermelons. The main area resembles a small forest filled with dark-colored trees and can easily be navigated through. OMORI can simply move to right of the screen to progress his way through. Along with that, this is the place where the missing BASIL is found.

The background features a realistic forest covered in shadow. The sky appears to be green-tinted blending in with the usual blue sky FARAWAY TOWN has during daytime. The most notable details are the few dark-colored hands sticking out and multiple headshots of BASIL with his FLOWER CROWN.

The subarea WATERMELON STUMP[1] appears to be a large, empty void filled with multiple watermelons OMORI can interact with. There's not that much to do around this area until BASIL suddenly explodes after smashing seven watermelons there, leaving behind one of the keys.

STORY[]

After stabbing himself out of CAT DISSECTION, OMORI finds himself back in the BLACK SPACE center hub. From there, OMORI enters another door, which leads him to a world filled with watermelons and tribal music. These watermelons will become crushed without giving out any rewards when interacted with.

To the right of OMORI's initial location, the player will see a FLOWER CROWN that is able to be picked up. Shortly after collecting it, OMORI finds the missing BASIL standing all by himself. BASIL notices OMORI and appears overjoyed that his best friend has arrived to rescue him. He will automatically take the FLOWER CROWN and start to follow behind OMORI, talking about the many watermelons in this area being grown by him, and how watermelons relate to some of his and OMORI's memories together.

After wandering for a bit, the game will automatically fade out and change to a new location filled with even more watermelons. Once six watermelons have been crushed, interacting with another one will cause BASIL to explode into a small heap on the ground in a similar fashion to crushed watermelons. This heap also eerily resembles watermelon remains. OMORI can then destroy another watermelon to receive a KEY.

After collecting the key, several RED HANDS will spawn and interacting with them will take OMORI back to the center hub of BLACK SPACE.

Growing watermelons here has been fun, but I really miss my flowers back at home... How are they doing? Did you take care of them while I was gone? Hehe...
