SPOILER WARNING
This article contains spoilers of important plot details regarding the plotline of OMORI.

SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN, also known as the FROZEN FOREST, is an optional location exclusive to the OMORI ROUTE in OMORI. It is a snowy mountain that can be accessed through FROZEN LAKE's igloo after obtaining BATTERIES from PINKBEARD on ONE DAY LEFT.

GEOGRAPHY[]

Frozen Forest 2 (Full Map)

The lower section of Snowglobe Mountain.

As the name suggests, SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN is a snowy mountain with notable paths and ladders that lead OMORI and friends upwards. Entrances to caves can be found along the mountain leading to icy caverns which make for simple sliding puzzles. Random cracks are present as spots on the ground and, when stepped on, causes OMORI and friends to fall all the way back down to a cave near the start of the mountain, in the cave where the TENDERIZER is obtained. Attempting to walk to the extreme left or extreme right of the map will simply cause the area to loop.

Nearer the top of the mountain, there is a picnic blanket available and a station for PLUTO'S SPACELINE northeast of the picnic blanket. Continuing upwards, TREVOR can be found as well as a SNO-CONE machine nearby. BABO can be found southeast of the picnic blanket near a tentacle poking out of the ground.

There is a large snowy field further up the mountain where hostile SNOW ANGELS appear. There are a few items and ice spikes in the field but it is otherwise mostly empty. Just before the peak of the mountain, there is a picnic basket for the player to save and replenish health before the boss.

Throughout the mountain, several MR. PENGUINS along the route carry messages signed by "SXH". They still remain within the mountain even after the boss is defeated.

STORY[]

SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN is only accessible during the OMORI ROUTE. It can be accessed after speaking to PINKBEARD, where he will give you BATTERIES and ask you to find CAPT. SPACEBOY. These BATTERIES can be used in the IGLOO. After using them and letting the plastic fish finish singing, the trapdoor will open and allow you to go downstairs. There will be a summoning circle that will transport you to a white field. Running to the edge will bring you to SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN. There is also the Y KEY found within the field. Going to SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN will allow you to complete the SON OF A SPACE PIRATE quest.

On ONE DAY LEFT, OMORI and his friends must first visit SPACE BOYFRIEND'S HOUSE and speak to PINKBEARD, who will ask OMORI and friends to find his son. Pick up the BATTERIES dropped. Heading to FROZEN LAKE and entering the IGLOO will allow them to interact with a plastic fish on the wall to insert the BATTERIES into.

After the plastic fish finishes its song, the entrance leading down will open, leading to a room with the G KEY. Interacting with the middle of the room will transport OMORI and friends to a room almost identical to the previous one, but upon exiting via the ladder, they emerge in a different igloo. Exiting the igloo reveals a large snowy field in which OMORI and friends must walk to the edge of the map to enter SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN.

On the path up SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN, speaking to the MR. PENGUINS along the way will read messages signed by "SXH", each giving a warning to not follow him, and revealing depictions of his depressed state. At the very peak of the mountain, OMORI and friends encounter SPACE EX-HUSBAND and fight him to convince him to go home. After defeated, SPACE EX-HUSBAND leaves the mountain and returns to his house. This will also progress the SON OF A SPACE PIRATE sidequest.

NOTABLE AREAS[]

SNOWGLOBE ENTRANCE[]

Igloo Entrance

Once the party has inserted the batteries into the plastic fish inside the igloo, it will play a little song with K.K. Slider's voice, shortly after which a trapdoor will open below. This will also yield the Take Me to The River! achievement.

Down below reveals a small room featuring a ritual circle similar to one from ORANGE OASIS, a MR. PENGUIN, and four lanterns surrounding said ritual circle. Interacting with MR. PENGUIN will cause it to reveal a message from SPACE EX-HUSBAND.

Igloo Ritual Circle

Step onto the ritual circle’s centre, which will transport the party into a new room where the G Key for the HANGMAN can be found beneath the trapdoor. There is a ladder that the party can climb up, bringing them to another part of the igloo, which features the Igloo Joke required for the JOKE BOOK. After doing those tasks, exit the igloo from the south, and this will bring the player to the next area of SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN.

SNOWY FOREST[]

Snowy Forest

The SNOWY FOREST is the second subarea of the SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN. Once you leave the igloo, the party will find themselves in a snowy forest with a seemingly endless path. Another MR. PENGUIN shows up next to the igloo.

Heading in any direction to one of the screen borders will bring the party to the main area of SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN. Despite being short in terms of segment, there are a few things the player can do here before moving forward.

Snowglobe Mountain (Breaktime)

The Y Key can be found in the top right corner of the map, near some pines. Continue going northeast to obtain it. Along with that, heading southwest brings the group to an abandoned campfire. Interact with it to initiate another breaktime sequence where OMORI and his friends huddle by the campfire. There is also a watermelon containing a SNO-CONE TICKET found west after moving up north briefly that can be obtained.

In addition, a RUNNING MELON will appear in the right of the igloo in the map, only if the player’s WTF VALUE is set greater than 7. When approaching it, the watermelon will attempt to flee from the player, and smashing it will reward them with one TOFU.

MAIN AREA[]

The main area of SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN consists of a large, vertically-oriented map where the player can encounter new enemies and obtain new items. Moving left or right will simply loop the area’s map, so the only way to progress is to continue north.

There are also a few interactives the player can find, whether it be watermelons that provide new weapons to a telescope providing a faraway view of the area’s chilly atmosphere. Other than that, the majority of SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN is split into two major sections: the first has more content than the second section, which mostly consists of a few more enemies and the area's main boss.

FIRST & SECOND LEVELS[]

Second Floor (Snowglobe Mountain)

The first level is simply the main entrance of SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN, reached after the party goes into any direction to one of the screen borders from the previous area SNOWY FOREST. When arriving there, the location's intro card pops up on-screen during the introduction cutscene.

The second level is where the player can encounter two enemies from this point on and onwards: the SNOW BUNNY and SNOW PILE. SNOW BUNNIES don’t provide that much of a threat, whereas SNOW PILES are capable of boosting their own stats in-battle. It can be best advised to avoid them if possible, but they can be farmed for more EXP.

Tenderizer (Location)

You can also reach a hidden cave through a large cracked hole by deviating from the path to the right. This can also be done by stepping on the cracks on the upper levels of the mountain. Upon entering the cave, there will be a sliding puzzle where the party can slide on the icy floor to move across the room.

Doing so will bring the group to a blue-colored watermelon containing the TENDERIZER, a weapon that HERO can use and that allows him to learn the TENDERIZE skill, which deals big damage to a foe while reducing their defense by one tier.

THIRD LEVEL[]

Third Level Watermelons

By continuing to head north, the player will reach the third level. From there, more SNOW BUNNIES and SNOW PILES begin showing up but can be avoided as usual. The player can also deviate from the path by climbing up a ladder that brings them to an elevated area.

From there, a lone SNOW BUNNY can be found guarding two watermelons containing LIFE JAM and the SNOWBALL weapon for KEL. This will also allow KEL to learn the skill of the same name, which makes enemies SAD while dealing heavy damage to SAD enemies. Other than that, there is not much to do on this floor but simply continue north.

FOURTH LEVEL[]

Fourth Floor Snowflakes

The fourth level features more enemies and a pathway leading to the entrance of the next level. However, there is a new feature available if the player takes a ladder up to a higher platform, featuring three sparkling SNOWFLAKES. These are referred as the HEART SNOWFLAKE, JUICE SNOWFLAKE, and EXP SNOWFLAKE in the game’s data.

Interacting with each one of them will provide an additional boost for all party members, and can only be done once. Note that the SNOWFLAKES encountered from this level and onwards all provide different types of boosts for the entire party. There are four different types of SNOWFLAKES that can be interacted with throughout SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN:

  • EXP SNOWFLAKE: Gives out +1 EXP for all party members.
  • HEART SNOWFLAKE: Increase HEARTS by 1 for all party members.
  • JUICE SNOWFLAKE: Increase JUICE by 1 for all party members.
  • CLAM SNOWFLAKE: Adds 5 additional CLAMS to the party's CLAM inventory.

After doing this action, continue to follow the pathway to the next areas of this location. A MR. PENGUIN stationed nearby once again reveals another warning from SPACE EX-HUSBAND himself.

FIFTH LEVEL[]

Fifth Level Sno-Cone

The fifth level is the area where the entrance to the next level is located. There is not much to do but progress forward. However, there are a few things the player can do before proceeding.

Near the cave entrance, a watermelon containing a SNO-CONE TICKET can be found to the right. You can use it for the SNO-CONE machine on the far left to obtain a SNO-CONE. Near the top left ledge is where an NPC known as TREVOR can be spoken to. Speaking to TREVOR prompts him to mention that there wasn't any snow from where he grew up, while wondering why he still misses being a kid.

Slippery Puzzle (Room 1)

Next to the machine is another sparkling SNOWFLAKE, this time referred to as a CLAM SNOWFLAKE in the game’s data. Interact with it and you'll receive five additional CLAMs to your CLAM inventory.

Upon entering the cave, the player will have to do another sliding puzzle like with the previous cave. There are two watermelons containing a GLASS BOTTLE and PINEAPPLE JUICE. There are three SNOWFLAKES, each one providing a JUICE, CLAM, and EXP boost. Interacting with the JUICE SNOWFLAKE will prompt the flavor text "You feel a little bubblier than before."

SIXTH - NINTH LEVELS[]

Snowglobe Mountain (Picnic 1)

After exiting the cave, you are brought to the second portion of the mountain, which is notably more of a proper, well-developed area. This is where the sixth to ninth levels can be accessed.

The player can find MARI and BASIL at a nearby picnic basket on a platform located on the left. You can save, heal up, or have another picnic sequence with MARI and BASIL. Along with that, a PLUTO'S SPACELINE station is located above MARI's picnic.

PRETTY BOW (Location)

There are also new NPCs, consisting of the SNOWGLOBES, which showcases events that are presumably based on SUNNY’s long-distant past. Three watermelons containing a MELON SMOOTHIE, RAIN CLOUD, and a SNO-CONE TICKET can be found throughout this area.

Going down the ladder to the right of the entrance brings you to a small frozen pond where BABO can be found standing near the docks. Speaking to him will simply prompt him to mention that while he likes the winter, he still yearns for a warmer climate. In addition, one of ABBI's TENTACLES can be found there. Only after defeating ABBI will the TENTACLE grant you the PRETTY BOW charm.

Telescope Location (Snowglobe Mountain)

The other two remaining objects consists of a telescope and one of the floating mirrors for the player to interact with. Entering the cave brings the player to another puzzle segment. As with the previous floors, there are a few SNOWFLAKES that provide HEART, EXP, JUICE, and CLAM boosts to the entire party. A watermelon containing a COMPUTER PART can be collected here too. One of the various LARGE FACES can be smashed to obtain JAM PACKETS using AUBREY’s tag ability.

MOUNTAIN PEAK[]

SNOW ANGEL ARENA[]

Snow Angels (Screenshot)

Upon reaching the penultimate area of SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN, the atmosphere takes a drastic change as the small snowstorm becomes heavier and the BGM changes to a more eerie tone. Large icicles are shown to have replaced the peaceful snow trees to signify the group getting closer to the summit.

The only enemies encountered here are the dreaded SNOW ANGELS, who serve as major obstacles that must be outrun or dealt with. Unlike other enemies when escaping from battle, SNOW ANGELS will immediately resume chasing after the party, even with their "faded" sprites until leaving the area. This gives players little time to flee from them in the process.

Snowglobe Mountain Peak (Mari Picnic)

When trying to progress through, the group should run as fast as they can to avoid combat with the SNOW ANGELS while picking up a few items within scattered watermelons. These items consist of a COMBO MEAL, SNO-CONE TICKET, and DYNAMITE.

Upon outrunning the SNOW ANGELS by continuing north, you’ll reach the last two puzzle caves, now filled with various presents. To progress, simply push the presents while sliding on the floor. The remaining SNOWFLAKES that give out CLAMS and JUICE are located there too.

SNOWGLOBE SUMMIT[]

Son of a Space Pirate (Space Ex-Husband)

By the time you’re done with that, you’ll reach the summit, where the optional boss of this area, SPACE EX-HUSBAND, awaits you. MARI and BASIL can be found resting near a picnic basket, so it's best to save, heal up, and prepare for the challenge lying ahead.

Continue upwards despite the warnings of the MR. PENGUINS, and you’ll finally face the heartbroken space captain himself. After defeating SPACE EX-HUSBAND, he will give the group a WEDDING RING while departing through his spaceship to return home. Finishing this challenge will complete the SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN segments and by extension, nearly finishing the sidequest given by PINKBEARD as well.

TRIVIA[]

  • In the game's data, the SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN's areas are titled FROZEN FOREST (I-IX).
  • The area title art is based on the SNOWGLOBE NPCs.
  • It is presumed that the SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN is heavily inspired from one of SUNNY's most cherished memories from the MEMORY LANE, involving him and his friends celebrating Christmas.
  • This area may have been inspired by possible snow globes kept in the many vacation souvenirs that SUNNY's family once collected, since snow globes are a popular form of destination souvenir. Although the appearance of these possible snow globes are unknown, they may resemble the descriptions given of the three SNOWGLOBE NPCs.
  • SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN is one of the three optional HEADSPACE areas in the game. The other two optional areas consist of ORANGE OASIS and THE ABYSS.
  • If the player's WTF VALUE is set greater than 7, then they can encounter the RUNNING MELON.
  • Interacting with the four types of SNOWFLAKES provides a certain flavor text:
    • EXP SNOWFLAKE: "You feel a little better than before."
    • HEART SNOWFLAKE: "You feel a little healthier than before."
    • JUICE SNOWFLAKE: "You feel a little bubblier than before."
    • CLAM SNOWFLAKE: "You feel a little richer than before."
  • SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN shares the same battle BGM with the FROZEN LAKE.
  • There are two unique text dialogue that plays out depending on the actions taken:
    • Going up to SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN brings the text "You find yourself at the foot of a mountain."
    • Going back to the SNOWY FOREST brings the text "You find yourself back where you started."
Omori Group Cuddle (Breaktime)
  • When doing the SNOWY FOREST breaktime event, there is a 20% chance of OMORI and his friends cuddling together instead of sitting around the campfire.
  • Inspecting the walls near the cave entrances at the FROZEN FOREST VII map reveals invisible SIGNS containing messages left by SPACE EX-HUSBAND. Only two SIGNS can be found in-game, as unused dialogue from the others are instead used for the remaining MR. PENGUINS in the area.
  • SNOWGLOBE MOUNTAIN (not counting the area SPACE EX-HUSBAND is fought within), DEEPER WELL, and CLUB SANDWICH are the only areas that don't use a cropped version of a battle background for the TAGGING polaroids.
