— GATOR GUY |
GATOR GUYS are a group of characters and enemies in OMORI. They are the loyal henchmen of MR. JAWSUM, and are mostly found active in the LAST RESORT and UNDERWATER HIGHWAY.
PROFILE[]
APPEARANCE[]
GATOR GUYS are anthropomorphic gators wearing purple-striped suits that cover their white shirts with a turquoise tie. They also possess a pair of sunglasses, turquoise colored pants, and an earpiece near the left side of their heads.
PERSONALITY[]
GATOR GUYS are usually shown to be focused on their tasks, not wanting anyone to bother them. However, they appear to amicable towards anyone they meet despite their rough demeanor, as noted by both MARI and AUBREY. However, they can get aggressive only if they are provoked or under orders of their boss MR. JAWSUM.
However, it is also shown that they can be quite crafty and cunning like their other brothers, as shown when attempting to trick OMORI and KEL into giving up their CLAMS to them. Despite this, most of them are friendly and bear little animosity to those who mess around with them.
It is notable that almost all the GATOR GUYS share great admiration towards HERO. They think highly of him and easily recognize him as MR. JAWSUM's top-ranked employee and later their boss on ONE DAY LEFT. This extends to them praising and giving HERO free items when spoken to with him tagged as the leader.
STORY[]
PROLOGUE - THREE DAYS LEFT[]
On both routes, GATOR GUYS regularly appear across HEADSPACE, the earliest ones being seen in the JUNKYARD blocking the way to MR. SCARETHROW until KEL demonstrates his ability to throw objects. The same ones appear briefly in ORANGE OASIS's TRAIN STATION, only after the player defeats SPACE EX-BOYFRIEND.
TWO DAYS LEFT[]
All GATOR GUYS have been reported back to LAST RESORT upon being given orders by MR. JAWSUM to trick the denizens of the FOREST PLAYGROUND into signing contracts. Most of them can be found as security staff all across the LAST RESORT.
On your first visit with only KEL in your party, some of them across the ground floor are aggressive and will engage the party, trying to throw KEL out for slacking on the job. MR. JAWSUM, their employer, will also regularly summon GATOR GUYS into the fight to defend himself and keep the party busy. They can also be fought on the construction site of the casino, where they cannot be escaped from when running into them.
After defeating MR. JAWSUM, the GATOR GUYS are a lot more placid, letting the party have free rein across the RESORT. Individual GATOR GUYS can no longer be fought, but their involvement in the JAWSUM fight already logs them in the FOE FACTS! archive.
Some of them later show up within the TOLL ROAD of the UNDERWATER HIGHWAY as construction workers trying to pave the road with little effort. Their brothers the TOLL GATORS and TAXI GATORS also appear throughout the area.
ONE DAY LEFT[]
On the OMORI ROUTE, the party returns to LAST RESORT to speak with MR. JAWSUM, who decides to go on vacation while naming HERO the new boss of the resort. However, HERO ends up overusing his power after summoning more GATOR GUYS at his side, which transforms him into BOSSMAN HERO. His power-mad state also ends up scaring away most of them, leaving only two remaining. These GATOR GUYS end up aiding BOSSMAN HERO when the groups fights him in battle.[1]
Afterwards, the party can head over to FLOOR 4's construction site, where a particular GATOR GUY with an artist attire can be commissioned to build statues of OMORI and his friends. Every time the party leaves and returns to LAST RESORT, the statue the player commissions will be completed upon returning to the construction site.
There are a total of 7 statues that the GATOR GUY can build, including a statue of himself. Completing this task will grant the player the A Bit Less Lonely achievement. This will also grant HERO the GATOR AID skill, which can be used to boost all party members' defense in battle.
The player can also find an additional GATOR GUY in the FOREST PLAYGROUND playing Hop Scotch, similar to that of HAPPY. He only appears if the player finishes interacting with MR. JAWSUM for the final time.

TRIVIA[]
- The first two GATOR GUYS that can be found in the JUNKYARD and ORANGE OASIS are also hidden within VAST FOREST's TRAIN STATION, though they cannot be interacted properly due to MR. OUTBACK blocking the way to them. They will also vanish once the PROLOGUE segment is finished.
- In some of the files, GATOR GUYS are referred to as Mafia Alligators.
- There are unique mechanics that happen when fighting GATOR GUYS in specific locations:
- When fought within casino, Common Event 961 will activate as KEL will occasionally play slots, with a 50% chance of winning CLAMS or losing up to 200 CLAMS. This mechanic disappears once the player defeats both MR. JAWSUM and PLUTO (EXPANDED).
- When fought within the construction site (4th Floor), the player cannot run away from them. However, returning to the area will instead lead to unique dialogue as NPCs instead of fighting them.
- In the game's data, there is an unused event where the player has a rare chance of encountering more than one GATOR GUY inside the casino. They would have a 1/9 chance of asking for a bribe between 25 and 125 CLAMS, with two possible outcomes:
- If the party accepts the offer: They will proceed to snatch the CLAMS and run away from combat, ending the battle.
- If the player declines the offer or doesn't have enough CLAMS: They immediately become ENRAGED.
- There was originally a 10% chance that a GATOR GUY would appear in the ball pit with the party when doing the LAST RESORT breaktime event. It was scrapped for unknown reasons.
- In the BOSSMAN HERO fight, the two GATOR GUYS aiding him were both originally meant to take contracts offered if OMORI's party refuses any of them. However, this becomes unused as only one GATOR GUY can do the action.
- There was originally a bug that caused the GATOR GUYS fought during MR. JAWSUM's battle and a stronger version of KID'S KITE to not count for completing FOE FACTS!. This was fixed starting with the V1.0.3 Patch Update, which was released on January 16th, 2021.
