GRUFF GUY'S HOUSE, also known as VANCE'S HOUSE[1], is one of the many areas within FARAWAY TOWN in OMORI. It is where GRUFF GUY primarily resides throughout the game.
GEOGRAPHY[]
GRUFF GUY'S HOUSE is the fourth house shown within AUBREY'S STREET, located to the west of SEAN and KAREN's house. It is recognizable by its light blue color palette and the pipe outside. A red pickup truck is parked in the yard, and is described as being far past its suggested life expectancy. Some tires are littered around the house, and a big bag of trash sits behind the pickup truck. A black trash bin is placed to the west of the door. The interior is accessible after SUNNY comes to watch him fixing the pipe on that day, except TWO DAYS LEFT when the house becomes inaccessible after the fixing ends.
The interior is shabby, with a lack of furniture, cracks in the walls, and peeling wallpaper. However, KIM and VANCE's bedroom is the only exception, being relatively tidy and having intact wallpaper. Tools, clothes, and trash are randomly placed inside the house. Exploration of GRUFF GUY's house is necessary if the player wants to complete a part of the "Universally Loved" achievement.
STORY[]
THREE DAYS LEFT[]
After talking to GRUFF GUY in FIX-IT, SUNNY will be welcomed by him when knocking the door of his house. GRUFF GUY attempts to fix the leak of a pipe in his living room, but it quickly begins to leak again. He decides to try again on next day and gives SUNNY $1 to buy "CANDY or something".
TWO DAYS LEFT[]
Similarly to the previous day, GRUFF GUY tries again to fix his leak, but it fails. In his anger, he smashes through the wall of the living room and into the wall of the hallway, leaving two holes shaped exactly like himself. By inspecting the hole in the living room, SUNNY can find one of the six SEASHELLS. GRUFF GUY can be found in the hole in the hallway, grumbling to himself.
ONE DAY LEFT[]
In the morning, GRUFF GUY is at his wit's end but decides to try again. After GRUFF GUY attempts it and fails, AUBREY offers her help and fixes the leak for good. SUNNY obtains a GHOULISH CD as the reward for sticking along with him for all three days. Fixing the pipe is a requirement for the Universally Loved achievement.
