JOKER JASH is a character and NPC in OMORI. It is a small JASH creature residing at the FOREST PLAYGROUND of VAST FOREST.

APPEARANCE[]
JOKER JASH appears to be a normal JASH with a green and yellow harlequin jester hat with two small yellow bells atop its head that set it aside from normal JASHES. It sits inside a red jack-in-the-box with a yellow checkered trim and has its lower half concealed.
PERSONALITY[]
JOKER JASH presumably possesses a playful persona, often shouting out "PEEK-A-BOO!!" whenever one winds up its jack-in-the-box. Other than that, not much is known about its personality.
STORY[]
PROLOGUE - THREE DAYS LEFT[]
JOKER JASH can be found hidden inside its box throughout the PROLOGUE and the other segments in HEADSPACE. Interacting with its box will prompt JOKER JASH to pop out of the box while shouting its catchphrase. Doing so again will cause it to retreat back into its box. This can be done multiple times as the player wants.
When BERLY gathers majority of the FOREST PLAYGROUND residents to play a game of hide-and-seek, JOKER JASH does not join her game. However, HAPPY can be found hiding inside JOKER JASH's jack-in-the-box during the minigame. Afterwards, JOKER JASH remains at its spot, even after BASIL vanishes from his house.
On the following day, JOKER JASH remains at the playground waiting for someone to open its box.
TWO DAYS LEFT[]
Upon returning to HEADSPACE once more, OMORI discovers that all of his friends at the playground are missing due to being tricked into working for MR. JAWSUM at the LAST RESORT by signing his CONTRACTS. JOKER JASH and its box are both absent from the playground but cannot be found anywhere at the LAST RESORT.
JOKER JASH eventually reappears at the FOREST PLAYGROUND after the group defeats both MR. JAWSUM and PLUTO (EXPANDED), being the only resident to return there for unexplained reasons.
ONE DAY LEFT[]
After saving BASIL within BLACK SPACE and resetting HEADSPACE on the OMORI ROUTE, OMORI and friends can revisit the playground once again to continue going on their adventures. JOKER JASH remains in its spot as usual.
TRIVIA[]
- In the 2018 demo, JOKER JASH was originally named JOKER ASH and its design looked slightly different from its appearance in the final release of the game.
- JOKER JASH is one of the few playground residents that cannot be found at the LAST RESORT. The others consist of MIKAL and BOSS, who actually traveled to HUMPHREY to build his BOSS RUSH simulator.
- In the game's data, JOKER JASH is referred to as JACK IN THE BOX.
