KEYMAGNET is a character and NPC in OMORI. It is encountered within the JUNKYARD, serving as an obstacle that must be destroyed with KEL's tag ability to progress.
PROFILE[]
APPEARANCE[]
KEYMAGNET resembles a small rectangular-shaped robot with two pink antennas emitting constant sparks of electricity and four purple legs. It has purple, pink, and light blue highlights for its design. KEYMAGNET also has two glowing yellow eyes and a mint-colored orb that serves as its weak point at the center of its head.
PERSONALITY[]
KEYMAGNET doesn't possess that much of a personality but appears defiant when blocking the group's way in the JUNKYARD. It also shocks them whenever they attempt to get past it, suggesting that it possesses a hostile demeanor.
STORY[]
As OMORI and his friends travel through the JUNKYARD to search for CAPT. SPACEBOY's SPECIAL MIXTAPE, they come across a lone KEYMAGNET. The robotic creature will jump down from a tall platform and proceed to shock the group, knocking them backwards. Despite getting shocked, KEL recognizes that the KEYMAGNET's orb is its weak spot.
Attempting to go through the KEYMAGNET will lead it to continously shock the party back, though this doesn't reduce any of their HP. This segment introduces players to KEL's tag mechanic, in which he can throw various balls when standing on an elevated platform.
Upon stepping onto the platform behind the group, KEL can throw a projectile straight at the KEYMAGNET, which causes it to emit a buzzing noise before exploding. Destroying the robotic creature is necessary to progress the story.
TRIVIA[]
- KEYMAGNET's name can only be properly found in the RPG Maker MV project of the game.
- Various inactive KEYMAGNET heads can be seen on the conveyor belt in MOLLY's sector.
- KEYMAGNET's overall design resembles a CONVEYOR-BOT's head.
- The sound KEYMAGNET makes upon being destroyed resembles the one used by CRUSHER BLAST.
- In the 2019 build of the game, there were originally more KEYMAGNETS that held onto JUNKYARD KEYS and still had to be destroyed using KEL's tag ability. In the final game, only one appears in the JUNKYARD.
