LOST LIBRARY, also known as HIDDEN LIBRARY[1], is a location in OMORI. It is a library long forgotten as it contained remnants of the truth, buried underneath PYREFLY FOREST. It is also accessible directly after defeating SWEETHEART on THREE DAYS LEFT of either route of the game.
GEOGRAPHY[]
The LOST LIBRARY is an abandoned library filled with old excerpts containing memories of SUNNY's past. It used to be above the ground in PYREFLY FOREST, evidenced by some picnic dialogue where MARI talks about a library that sank into the ground.[2] The entrance of the location is surrounded by multiple potted white egret orchids. On his first visit, OMORI visits this place alone.
Most of the library's surroundings are filled with cobwebs, bookshelves, and dead trees. The keepers of the library are mentioned to have long since passed when examining the bookshelves.[3] Several spider webs appear to block the way but can be cut down by OMORI himself. This is also where one of the correct keys for the HANGMAN is located.
On ONE DAY LEFT of the OMORI ROUTE, the entire party can revisit this area. However, the entire hallway will be swarmed with several SOMETHING variants. Most of them will try to attack the group only if the player gets near them. Other than that, the PIANO ROOM has something special for the group to experience once they bring in the SHEET MUSIC for the piano.
STORY[]
THREE DAYS LEFT[]
After defeating SWEETHEART, a large hole is opened on the stage via detonation. Once SWEETHEART leaves with CAPT. SPACEBOY on their honeymoon, OMORI and his friends prepare to leave the duchess' castle. However, the screen is then covered with SOMETHING's eyes as OMORI notices STRANGER walking right into the hole. The group is then guided straight into the hole by the shadowy entity. As the others disappear falling down, OMORI enters LOST LIBRARY all by himself.
While navigating the area, multiple spider webs will appear to block OMORI's path and must be sliced through. There are also several blue books on the shelves of which their excerpts can be read. OMORI can leave the area on the bottom right after collecting the L Key. Reading all excerpts can also allow the player enter a hidden room featuring a piano and STRANGER, who disappears upon noticing OMORI approaching him.
Interacting with the hole the L Key was covering will show a short cutscene of BASIL facing away from the camera, staring at the HEADSPACE's starry sky. The scene cuts forward to a closeup of BASIL, only for him to turn around in horror as the camera zooms into his left pupil, revealing SOMETHING staring back at him. The back of a photo from the PHOTO ALBUM with the text "DON'T FORGET, IT'S IN THE TOY BOX" is shown afterwards. OMORI then finds himself back in WHITE SPACE and stabs himself to reawaken SUNNY for his next day in FARAWAY TOWN.
TWO DAYS LEFT[]
If the player returns to SWEETHEART'S CASTLE, the large hole that leads to the LOST LIBRARY is now plugged up with multiple wooden boards, leaving it inaccessible for the remainder of that segment.
When swimming through the MAP OF TRUTH in DEEPER WELL, a disembodied voice mentions that the LOST LIBRARY was one of the various locations that once held fragments of the truth at some point in the past.[4]
ONE DAY LEFT[]
In the OMORI ROUTE, OMORI and his friends can return to the LOST LIBRARY through SWEETHEART'S CASTLE. Although the hole in the stage appears to be patched up, there is still a large enough hole to jump in.
The library is now full of SOMETHING variants that will fight the group. There is now a secret room in the bottom left of the area containing a piano. This room will only unlock after every excerpt in the LOST LIBRARY has been read. The three pieces of SHEET MUSIC from the DEEPER WELL can be placed on the piano, causing entrances leading to the boss fights against SOMETHING IN THE DARK, SOMETHING IN THE WALLS, and SOMETHING IN THE WATER to appear from left to right.
Defeating them all will grant the player the Repressed achievement, and teaching OMORI the VERTIGO, CRIPPLE and SUFFOCATE skills respectively. Interacting with the piano after defeating all three SOMETHING variants will cause it to disappear, signifying SUNNY effectively repressing all of his memories of MARI.
NOTABLE AREAS[]
HIDDEN LIBRARY[]
The main area of LOST LIBRARY, referred to as HIDDEN LIBRARY, consists of a long hallway featuring staircases and bookshelves abandoned and forgotten. When first arriving there, OMORI will find himself surrounded by multiple lily of the valley flowers. The player must move downwards to proceed.
He can also interact with the library excerpts on the shelves, each containing one of SUNNY's memories from the past. Spider webs will form as you go but you can easily cut down them using OMORI's tag ability. While walking down the staircase, an apparition of MARI can briefly be seen heading down before vanishing.
Upon reaching the bottom floor, this is where the hallway ends. To the right is where the L key is located, revealing a hole. Looking into it leads to a creepy cutscene featuring BASIL looking back in horror as SOMETHING appears behind him on the first visit.
To the left is the PIANO ROOM, which features MARI's piano along with a picnic basket and some fruit. LOST LIBRARY will later be swarmed with several SOMETHING variants roaming around. This only happens if the player is on the OMORI ROUTE after saving BASIL and resetting HEADSPACE.
PIANO ROOM[]
The PIANO ROOM, also known as HIDDEN LIBRARY PIANO in the game's data, is found at the bottom-left end of LOST LIBRARY. Its design is reminiscent of the piano room seen in SUNNY'S HOUSE. It can be accessed once OMORI has read all six excerpts available in the library. On the first visit for both routes, STRANGER is shown staring at the piano, not before turning around to face OMORI and silently vanishing as usual.
Interacting with the piano will reveal the word OMORI etched across the center. MARI's picnic basket alongside some fruit can be used to save the game and heal the party's entire HEART and JUICE respectively. A jump rope on the top right corner is shown as well. If the player returns here on the ONE DAY LEFT of the OMORI ROUTE, they have the option to place three SHEET MUSIC on the piano by interacting with it. These items can be found within DEEPER WELL.
Placing all three SHEET MUSIC will lead to three pillars of light shining down into the room. Entering each one will allow the group to have rematches with the FEAR bosses SUNNY fought in the REAL WORLD. The only difference is that these versions are much more dangerous and require precise strategy and skill to defeat them.
Defeating each one of them will grant OMORI a powerful skill (VERTIGO, CRIPPLE, and SUFFOCATE) that can deal devastating damage output to any opponent he uses them on. Completing the entire challenge will yield the Repressed achievement and the piano will disappear from the room upon interacting with it afterwards.
FEAR OF HEIGHTS[]
The FEAR OF HEIGHTS area, also known as LOST LIBRARY 1, is where the HEADSPACE version of SOMETHING IN THE DARK can be fought. It is accessed through the light pillar on the left. The area consists of a dark hallway filled with multiple candles lighting up the path. The player can move forward, and doing so will eventually bring them a dark door.
Interacting with the door leads to a short cutscene where the group backs down upon hearing a loud noise. The door immediately swings open, revealing SOMETHING's hands reaching out to attack the party while the candles go out. This will lead to a rematch with SOMETHING IN THE DARK, now titled HEIGHTS in the game's data. Defeating it will grant OMORI the VERTIGO skill, which deals damage to all foes based on user's SPEED and greatly reduces their ATTACK.
FEAR OF SPIDERS[]
The FEAR OF SPIDERS area, also known as LOST LIBRARY 2, is where the HEADSPACE version of SOMETHING IN THE WALLS can be fought. It is accessed through the light pillar on the middle. The layout mostly resembles a facsimile of SUNNY'S HOUSE but heavily abandoned and decayed. Upon entering this area, a loud distorted noise plays in the background. The group can move forward while cutting spider webs that occasionally appear.
Reaching the end reveals a room filled with large tears and holes on both the floor and wall. The distorted noise will come to a stop once a large, shadowy figure emerges from the shadows and lunges at the party. This will lead to a rematch with SOMETHING IN THE WALLS, now titled SPIDERS in the game's data. Defeating it will grant OMORI the CRIPPLE skill, which deals big damage to all foes and greatly reduces their SPEED.
FEAR OF DROWNING[]
The FEAR OF DROWNING area, also known as LOST LIBRARY 3, is where the HEADSPACE version of SOMETHING IN THE WATER can be fought. It is accessed through the light pillar on the right. The area consists of an darkened room featuring a light-colored boardwalk connected to a large lake. Multiple ANGI can be seen swimming around the area but will not attack the player.
Continuing to move forward and entering the lake reveals a swirling whirlpool. Entering the whirlpool immediately causes SOMETHING's tendrils to cover the screen. This will lead to a rematch with SOMETHING IN THE WATER, now titled DROWNING in the game's data. Defeating it will grant OMORI the SUFFOCATE skill, which deals 400 damage to all foes and greatly reduces their DEFENSE.

TRIVIA[]
- The blanked out spaces in the library's excerpts correlate with SUNNY's friends' names. The number of squares matches up with the length of each name.
- ☐ represents SUNNY (since the player can rename SUNNY to a name with any number of characters).
- ☐☐☐ represents KEL.
- ☐☐☐☐ represents HERO and MARI.
- ☐☐☐☐☐ represents BASIL.
- ☐☐☐☐☐☐ represents AUBREY.
- When saving the game in LOST LIBRARY during the first access, the current day is shown as "TWO DAYS LEFT", which means at that time it has been midnight in the real world.
- Upon close inspection, the trees near the end of the library show the silhouettes of the different SOMETHING variants. This heavily implies that they are slowly manifesting themselves into HEADSPACE. The variants seen consist of DOROTHI, MERCI, LILI, NANCI, CINDI, and SALLI.
- Further evidence is given for this theory on the OMORI route, where re-entering the LOST LIBRARY shows minor SOMETHING variants prowling around near where their silhouettes were.
- CINDI and SALLI manifesting near the same tree may allude to them both appearing at VAST FOREST's FOGGY BRIDGE.
- After defeating all SOMETHING bosses, interacting with the piano will cause it to vanish. This is like the piano in the PIANO ROOM of SUNNY'S HOUSE, which becomes invisible after OMORI reunites with his five friends in the OMORI ROUTE.
- Furthermore, attempting to reread any of the book excerpts after the piano vanishes will result in the excerpts displaying "All the words have been scribbled out.".
- In each one of the three rooms where the player can refight the FEAR bosses, the SOMETHING fear border corresponding to the SOMETHING variant's respective trait can be faintly seen swarming the screen.
- The FEAR OF HEIGHTS room is also shown briefly in the 2017 trailer of the game.
