PINWHEEL FOREST, also known as the FLOATING FOREST, is an subarea located within VAST FOREST in OMORI.
It is accessed by climbing up a ladder east of the sign right under the FOREST PLAYGROUND, though this can only be done after OMORI conquers his fear of heights.
GEOGRAPHY[]
PINWHEEL FOREST is a high-up area with a foggy atmosphere and many clouds cover the area. It also notably has a few pinwheels sprinkled with trees populating its surroundings. In the north, MARI has set up her picnic basket and KITE KID can be encountered there as well. PROPELLER GHOST is found here along with the C Key needed for the HANGMAN challenge. This place is also great for flying kites as shown by KITE KID and his kite.
After defeating KITE KID, an optional sidequest titled WEAK WIND is initiated, in which there is a pinwheel that needs fixing. It is located on the southeastern portion of the area. This can be done by TAGGING KEL to chuck his rubber ball straight at it, which will cause a watermelon containing SPAGHETTI to fall out of the pinwheel. KITE KID's defeat dialogue will change depending on if the pinwheel is fixed or not. In addition, the party can also fly their kites after defeating KITE KID. The kites the group can play with all differ in appearance:
- OMORI's kite resembles the BIG YELLOW CAT.
- AUBREY's kite resembles a FOREST BUNNY.
- KEL's kite resembles the character ORANGE JOE from ORANGE OASIS.
- HERO's kite resembles a normal, perfectly crafted kite made by himself.

- PINWHEEL FOREST and KITE KID's presence references a picture book in the REAL WORLD titled "A Kid and His Kite", as shown in the the SORTING chore in the OMORI ROUTE.
- KITE KID's battle theme was originally used as VAST FOREST's battle theme in the demo.
- In the 2018 Kickstarter demo, KITE KID's sidequest was originally named WEAK WINDS, in which the former would ask the player to investigate one of the pinwheels as he feels something is wrong with them. MARI would also have commentary on the sidequest as well. In the final game, there are no mentions of this quest in-game, though MARI's commentary on it still exists in the game's language files.
