This article is about PLUTO (EXPANDED). You may be looking for his normal form
or the transportation system named after him
.

PLUTO (EXPANDED) is an enemy in OMORI. He is the powered-up version of PLUTO that appears whenever he taps into his maximum power, and is fought within the LAST RESORT and OTHERWORLD.

PROFILE[]

PLUTO (EXPANDED) is similar-looking to the PLUTO that you can encounter earlier in OTHERWORLD. PLUTO (EXPANDED) is extremely buff, even more so than his previous form. This form also has a torso, which PLUTO seems to be missing in his normal sprite.

Unlike the PLUTO battle that you can initiate when first in OTHERWORLD when PLUTO is behind the tree, PLUTO (EXPANDED)'s sprite's arms are attached to his body and are not separate enemies.

STORY[]

TWO DAYS LEFT[]

After defeating MR. JAWSUM, PLUTO is called upon to defeat the team and keep HERO at his job at the LAST RESORT. PLUTO then transforms into PLUTO (EXPANDED) in order to try to take them down. Before he is able to release his full power, he is stopped by MR. JAWSUM, who tells PLUTO that he doesn't want to lose him, as PLUTO was his other star employee.

ONE DAY LEFT[]

On ONE DAY LEFT of the OMORI ROUTE, PLUTO (EXPANDED) makes another appearance as a dual boss with THE EARTH if the party decides to return back to SPACE BOYFRIEND'S HOUSE and encounter the two awaiting for another challenge. He can later be refought in the BOSS RUSH simulator run by BOSS in HUMPHREY.

Every turn, each enemy will start by trying to use the skill listed at the top. If the calculation fails, they move on to the second skill and so on, until reaching the final skill which is guaranteed to activate. Each calculation is done independently from the previous ones, so the added percentage is not 100%.

*The LAST RESORT variant's A.I. is the same as the BOSS RUSH variant's, both using EXPAND FURTHER if the user's HP is below 40%.

**This move is only used if the user is below 10% HP (LAST RESORT) or 50% HP (OTHERWORLD).

***This move is only used in OTHERWORLD. Once PLUTO finishes charging this move for two turns and using it, his ATTACK, DEFENSE, and LUCK increase by 150% and his SPEED by 1000%.

****If any party member is with SAD emotions, PLUTO (EXPANDED) will always use this skill to attack them.

STRATEGY[]

Unlike the PLUTO battle that you can initiate when first in OTHERWORLD when PLUTO is behind the tree, PLUTO (EXPANDED)'s sprite's arms are attached to his body and are not separate enemies; so in this battle, you do not have to account for three enemies, only one. However, PLUTO (EXPANDED) does enough damage that you will want to use stat-lowering special attacks and/or have a designated healer.

Do note that even though this fight takes place almost directly after defeating MR. JAWSUM, your party members will be restored to full health, so when fighting MR. JAWSUM you don't have to account for this fight. However, the party have to take into account that they will not be able to switch skills or equipment between MR. JAWSUM's fight and the PLUTO (EXPANDED) fight.

A good strategy is to have KEL use MEGAPHONE to make all friends ANGRY, and then have OMORI use SAD POEM or TRIP FOLLOW-UP to make PLUTO SAD, giving the team the emotion advantage. Have AUBREY use COUNTER every turn to take damage for the team and HERO use COOK to heal AUBREY.

Another good strategy is to make PLUTO happy, so that his attacks whiff, and make everyone in the party sad, which reduces damage taken. Using a rain cloud is the fastest way to get everyone sad, and AUBREY's PEP TALK skill is good for making PLUTO happy. Using HACK AWAY with OMORI, RICOCHET with KEL, MOOD WRECKER with AUBREY, and just attacking with HERO unless your party needs healing (in which case use SNACK TIME or SHARE FOOD), tends to be a really good way to do massive damage in one turn. The below strategy is a good variant of this strategy too.

Constantly get OMORI and KEL to attack PLUTO using HACK AWAY and RICOCHET (FLEX + RUN N GUN is also fine), and PLUTO should be defeated in a few turns. If the previous fight is taken into account, the party could also use a HAPPY vs. ANGRY setup due to MR. JAWSUM's ability to make his workers (and himself) ANGRY — this way, the abilities can be carried over to PLUTO's fight.

TRIVIA[]

  • On the console versions of OMORI, PLUTO (EXPANDED) will not say "But... I am not finished yet." when he is defeated during BOSS RUSH.
  • The effect of EMOTIONS on the EXP and CLAMS earned from PLUTO (EXPANDED) on ONE DAY LEFT is different from other enemies.
  • Even though PLUTO (EXPANDED)'s ultimate attack lists all enemies getting damaged in the game's data, it only affects three party members instead of the whole party when used in-game.
SpaceBoyfriend Battleback (2018 Demo)
  • PLUTO and his expanded form's battleback is largely derived from SPACE EX-BOYFRIEND's battleback from the 2018 Kickstarter demo.
  • PLUTO (EXPANDED), KITE KID, UNBREAD TWINS, and the DINO'S DIG enemies are the only enemies that have an increase in EXP when encountering them on ONE DAY LEFT of the OMORI ROUTE.
  • Defeating him the first time within LAST RESORT will grant the player the When I flex, I feel my best! achievement. In addition, defeating both PLUTO (EXPANDED) and THE EARTH on ONE DAY LEFT of the OMORI ROUTE grants the The Brightest Stars achievement.
  • There are some unused text lines for PLUTO (EXPANDED). They consist of:
    • "Hmph" (When initiating a "Strong Attack" move)
    • "The radiance of PLUTO's muscles intimidated you!" (Turns PLUTO (EXPANDED) HAPPY)
    • "Everyone who is sad became weaker" (Reaction to above phrase)
    • "PLUTO (EXPANDED) flexes his muscles and prepares himself!" (Unused FLEX skill)
    • "PLUTO (EXPANDED) is admiring KEL's progress" (Turns KEL HAPPY)
