SNAKE is a character and NPC in OMORI. He resides within the NEIGHBOR'S ROOM, often giving OMORI and his friends allowance before they venture into HEADSPACE.

APPEARANCE[]

SNAKE is a white-colored snake with red eyes and various purple spots all over their body. He also appears similar to the TOLL SNAKES found throughout the UNDERWATER HIGHWAY's toll road, but less detailed in design.

PERSONALITY[]

SNAKE is a caring individual as he always seems to be looking after OMORI and friends whenever they leave to explore HEADSPACE. In fact, he often gives OMORI allowance in the form of CLAMS, except for a few occasions. SNAKE also enjoys going through thrill-seeking events, such as skydiving all the way down from OTHERWORLD.

STORY[]

PROLOGUE[]

Upon entering the NEIGHBOR'S ROOM during the PROLOGUE, SNAKE can be seen resting near the colorful stairs of the room. Before leaving the room, SNAKE will stop OMORI and gives him some allowance in the form of 50 CLAMS.

He will do this for the start of almost every segment in HEADSPACE. Also, note that the amount of CLAMS given to the group will increase every day. After SUNNY defeats SOMETHING IN THE DARK, SNAKE will grant the group 200 CLAMS when OMORI returns to HEADSPACE.

THREE DAYS LEFT[]

The following day, OMORI leaves WHITE SPACE and regroups with his friends as usual. Before leaving, SNAKE will give the group 750 CLAMS before wishing them well once they begin exploring as usual.

TWO DAYS LEFT[]

SNAKE is the only NPC remaining in the NEIGHBOR'S ROOM as AUBREY, KEL, and HERO have left to work at the LAST RESORT due to being tricked into working for MR. JAWSUM via his contracts. When spoken to, SNAKE will omniously question OMORI if he is "waiting for something to happen". He will repeat his dialogue for the remainder of the segment, even after OMORI finds his missing friends.

ONE DAY LEFT[]

Upon rescuing BASIL and resetting HEADSPACE on ONE DAY LEFT of the OMORI ROUTE, SNAKE appears once again near the colorful stairs of the NEIGHBOR'S ROOM. Upon seeing that OMORI and friends have arrived again, SNAKE gives them 6000 CLAMS before wishing them well on their out.

TRIVIA[]

  • For all segments, SNAKE appears briefly whenever the group climbs the ladder to OTHERWORLD, skydiving while wearing a space helmet. When spoken to, SNAKE stops his descent and mentions "What a thrill!" before resuming his fall.
  • SNAKE's fall at the ladder to OTHERWORLD is a reference to the game "Snakes and Ladders". A linear progression game where landing on a 'ladder' lets the player climb ahead and landing on a 'snake' makes the player fall back, losing progress.
  • SNAKE's quote at the ladder to OTHERWORLD is a reference to the theme song 'Snake Eater' from the game Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, where the protagonist Naked Snake, climbs a very long ladder in the Krasnogorje Tunnel. As Snake climbs, the vocal track from the "Snake Eater" theme song can be heard playing in the background.
  • In the 2014 demo, the SNAKE would originally inform OMORI's group that he is hungry and asks them to check on a delicious "pest" scurrying behind the tree inside the room.
