SOMETHING serves as the antepenultimate boss for the SUNNY ROUTE in OMORI, in which SUNNY finally decides to overcome his fear of the entity and face the truth.

STORY[]

During the night of ONE DAY LEFT, SUNNY dreams of BASIL slowly being consumed by his own guilt. He then awakens in WHITE SPACE, where OMORI stares at him. Strangely, OMORI appears to have no intention of merging together as they previously did for the past four years. SUNNY pulls out the black lightbulb hanging from the ceiling and smashes it on the floor, causing the room to black out.

SUNNY then finds himself warped into a dark room in BLACK SPACE, where a single light shines down in front of him. From there, SOMETHING emerges from the darkness for one final confrontation. SUNNY engages in combat against the shadowy entity and its many variants he previously fought over the last few days. Eventually, he manages to overcome SOMETHING once he finally sees its true form as MARI's hanged corpse. By overcoming SOMETHING, SUNNY readies himself to face the truth behind MARI's death once he enters the light.

For the first to ninth turns, SOMETHING will attack the player.

From the tenth turn and onwards, SOMETHING won't do anything else as the player learns OVERCOME on the twelfth turn to automatically end the fight.

Every turn, each enemy will start by trying to use the skill listed at the top. If the calculation fails, they move on to the second skill and so on, until reaching the final skill which is guaranteed to activate. Each calculation is done independently from the previous ones, so the added percentage is not 100%.

*Only on the WATER and HANGING BODY phases, the enemy's attacks are practically scripted instead of using an attack at a random percentage.

STRATEGY[]

Something (Engulf)

The depths of darkness revealing multiple eyes of SOMETHING.

Like each of the 3 fear bosses, SOMETHING can't actually be damaged through normal means. Unlike the other previous SOMETHING boss fights, SUNNY will start off as NEUTRAL, indicating his determination to overcome the embodiment of his past sins. The boss fight with SOMETHING plays out similarly to a boss rush, with the creature constantly forcing the player to re-fight each fear. The battles with the fears are not changed here, the player will still need to use the skills used to defeat them the first times.

After defeating SOMETHING IN THE WATER, a blurry image will appear. The player needs to use the previously used skills to get a better look at the image, only to reveal it as MARI's hanged corpse. Massive amounts of damage will be inflicted to SUNNY at this point, but using the skills will heal him. After using each skill multiple times, the player gets a new skill: OVERCOME. Using this skill ends the fight.

Something (Enemy) Fading
  • In the game's files, SOMETHING has an unused animation where it fades away upon defeat. This sprite isn't used as the player cannot defeat SOMETHING in its normal form, only its HANGING BODY form.
  • The HANGING BODY form of SOMETHING's first attack will always deal 143 damage. This serves as an twisted reminder of how MARI dearly loved SUNNY as the number 143 can also mean "I love you".
    • It is also notable that there exists an unused version of the OVERCOME skill used in this fight. This cannot be seen under normal circumstances as the battle automatically ends once SUNNY overcomes SOMETHING. When used, SUNNY will deal 143 damage with the flavor text "Deal big damage to an enemy."
  • A fight with SOMETHING was planned to be used in the OMORI ROUTE in the place of STRANGER, but was scrapped for unknown reasons. In that fight, OMORI would constantly use his RED HANDS to silence SOMETHING, damaging it each turn without taking damage.
  • SOMETHING shares the same battle background as STRANGER.
  • The attacks of SOMETHING's HANGING BODY form are titled from NOTHING 1 to NOTHING 12.
  • This can be considered the final boss if the player chooses not to save BASIL.
  • The HANGING BODY's stats are reused for the simulation MARI battle in the console-exclusive BASIL RUSH event, only accessible on ONE DAY LEFT of the OMORI ROUTE.
