SUBCONSCIOUS SPILL is one of the many locations found within BLACK SPACE in OMORI. It is the second mandatory area the player must progress through to complete BLACK SPACE.
GEOGRAPHY[]
GENERAL[]
SUBCONSCIOUS SPILL is a fairly upbeat world compared to the rest, featuring a glitchy scribbly sort of neon theme. Matryoshkas scatter the area, along with large representations of home, like bathtubs and picture frames. The many objects OMORI can find here remind him of home. Interacting with any of these gives the response "You are far away from home."
There are only two NPCs other than the STRANGER that OMORI can interact with: LOQUACIOUS CAT and BLUECLOUD. Talking to LOQUACIOUS CAT will allow OMORI to ask many psychological questions. Regardless of which question asked, the creature will simply respond with an answer that doesn't make any sense. BLUECLOUD, on the other hand, will simply ask OMORI to follow it but nothing else happens there.
OMORI cannot enter any of the houses nearby, as the doors are too small. Along with that, there are several objects surrounding the place, such as tiles rapidly flashing color (a cluster of which are arranged in a formation spelling "DISCO"), a crudely-drawn MARI in a bed that was covered with a blanket, poorly drawn plants, and sprites that were taken apart and strewn around.
SCRAPPED WARP[]
Originally, after collecting the key, if OMORI is positioned near Matryoshka dolls that resemble him and waits for 10 seconds, he would float away while spinning continuously. The screen would then transition to the CLOUD WALKWAY, revealing that the warp brought OMORI there. This has been cut because the developers didn't have enough time to test it extensively,[1] although it exists in the 2019 build of the game.[Citation needed]
STORY[]
After finding a BLACK KEY within STATIC WORLD, OMORI is warped back to the center hub of BLACK SPACE. From there, OMORI enters another door, which leads him to a relatively cheery area filled with bizarre-looking creatures. Once again, STRANGER appears before OMORI to give him another cryptic speech.
STRANGER tells OMORI that lost within BLACK SPACE lie the remaining remnants of the truth before disappearing, allowing OMORI to explore the area while interacting with any of the creatures or objects residing in the location while navigating his way by following the red-colored footprints.
The key is next to the pathway and STRANGER, but talking with him is optional. Talking to STRANGER again will prompt him to plead OMORI to find the truth no matter what, for both of them (referring to SUNNY and BASIL). After collecting the key, several RED HANDS will spawn and interacting with them will take OMORI back to the center hub of BLACK SPACE.

TRIVIA[]
- The music played in this location resembles Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt - Morning Mood but distorted.
- The pink-colored sprites shown on the bottom right area spell out DISCO.
- In this area are a few tiles belonging to a sprite of a black cat head with a realistic bleeding orifice for a mouth. Although the full sprite is never seen in-game, the full image can be still found in the game's files.
- The pond with multiple eyes was originally planned to appear in the NEIGHBOR'S ROOM, as shown through a few concept arts. In the full release, the pond only appears within SUBCONSCIOUS SPILL as a non-interactable object. Upon close inspection, it is colored blue instead of purple and larger in size.
- When moving around, BLUECLOUD follows a set path in a never-ending rectangular loop post-interaction. It first moves up to the top-right corner of the map, then heads south to the bottom-right corner. After that, the cloud moves towards the bottom-left corner and finally back to the area where it can be found.
